However, the incidence of esophagitis in a model of diabetic nephropathy in rats has never been studied. The aim of the present study was to investigate the esophagus in a rat model of diabetes mellitus induced by the administration of streptozotocin. The experiments were carried out on 56 male Wistar rats, divided into three groups: control (C, n=18), experimental (E, n=18) and diabetic-nephropathy (DN, n=16).
